The Secondary school day

The Secondary school day starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.15pm, Monday to Friday.

Pupils should arrive between 8.35am and 8.45am so that they are ready to begin learning promptly at 8.45am.

Punctuality is important. Arriving on time helps pupils start the day calmly, attend worship and personal development, and be ready for learning.

Enrichment, clubs and detentions may take place after the school day. Families should check the relevant timetable or school communication for details.

Arrival and punctuality

Pupils should arrive at school in good time, wearing the correct uniform and with the equipment they need for the day.

Pupils are expected to be ready for learning by 8.45am. Families can support pupils by helping them prepare their bag, uniform and equipment the night before.

If your child is going to be late or absent, please follow the school’s attendance and absence reporting procedures.

Secondary uniform

Trinity has clear uniform expectations for pupils in the Secondary Phase. Uniform helps create a shared sense of belonging, identity and pride in the school community.

Main uniform

Pupils should wear:

• black blazer with the school badge
• black skirt or black trousers
• white shirt, long or short sleeve, worn tucked in with the top button closed
• school tie, with six stripes showing after the knot
• black formal school shoes with no other colour and black laces
• black socks
• Trinity school bag

Coats should be black or dark blue.

Uniform expectations

Black skirts or trousers should be formal school uniform items. Combats, jeggings and leggings are not permitted as school trousers.

Shoes must be formal black school shoes. Canvas shoes and trainers are not permitted as school shoes.

Pupils should wear the correct uniform every day unless they have been given specific permission by the school.

PE kit

Pupils should bring their PE kit to school on days when they have PE and change in school.

PE kit includes:

• official white polo shirt with Trinity logo
• plain navy blue shorts or skirt
• plain navy blue leggings or tracksuit bottoms
• official navy blue Trinity Sports Hoody or official Trinity Rugby Top
• trainers suitable for sport
• football boots when required for field use

Pupils in Years 7 to 10 should use the official Trinity PE kit bag. Year 11 pupils may bring their PE kit in a suitable bag.

Fit or not fit, bring your kit

If a pupil is not fit for PE and has a medical note, they should still bring their PE kit. They may be asked to support the PE teachers during the lesson where appropriate.

Equipment for learning

Pupils should come to school each day ready to learn.

Families should make sure pupils have a suitable school bag and the basic equipment needed for lessons. This may include:

• black or blue pens
• pencils
• ruler
• rubber
• sharpener
• any books, knowledge organisers or materials needed for the day

Pupils should also bring any PE kit, ingredients, revision materials or specialist equipment needed for their timetable.

Phones, headphones and personal items

Pupils should not use phones or headphones during the school day.

Phones and headphones seen during the school day may be confiscated in line with school expectations.

Families should avoid sending pupils into school with unnecessary valuables or personal items.

Jewellery, make up, nails and hair accessories

The only jewellery permitted is a watch and one pair of small plain gold or silver studs, no bigger than 2mm in diameter. Pupils may wear one stud in each ear.

Nose piercings and tongue piercings are not permitted.

Make up, nail varnish and false nails are not permitted.

Hair accessories should be black and practical for the school day.

Headwear should only be worn where it is part of agreed uniform guidance, including for religious, cultural or medical reasons. Families should contact the school if they have any questions about uniform expectations.

Bags and coats

Pupils should bring a suitable school bag each day. Bags should be large enough to carry books, equipment and any materials needed for lessons.

Coats should be suitable for the weather and should follow the school’s uniform expectations.
