Secondary Admissions

Pupils at Trinity Secondary

Join Trinity Secondary in Year 7

A smaller, ambitious and inclusive Secondary phase where pupils are known, supported and challenged to grow in confidence, character and achievement.

Choosing a Secondary school is an important decision for every family. Parents want to know that their child will be happy, safe, known, challenged and supported. Pupils want to know that they will belong, make friends, enjoy learning and find their place.

At Trinity, Year 7 is not just a new start. It is the next step in a carefully supported journey where pupils are welcomed, known and prepared for the future.

Pupils join us from Trinity Primary and from many other primary schools. Every child is helped to settle, build friendships, understand routines and begin Secondary life with confidence.

Start your Trinity Secondary journey: visit the school, explore Year 7 transition, check the admissions process and apply through your local authority.

Why choose Trinity Secondary?

At Trinity Secondary, ambition and belonging go together. We want pupils to achieve well, develop strong character and feel proud of the young people they are becoming.

Known and welcomed

Pupils are supported to feel part of the Trinity community. Family Groups, pastoral care, clear routines and positive relationships help pupils feel known and ready to learn.

Ambitious learning

Pupils follow a broad, ambitious and carefully sequenced curriculum. They are challenged to think deeply, apply their learning and build the knowledge and confidence they need for GCSE courses and future pathways.

High expectations with warmth

We believe pupils flourish when high expectations are combined with care. Pupils are encouraged to work hard, behave well, take responsibility and make the most of the opportunities available to them, while being supported by adults who know and guide them.

Character and opportunity

Pupils grow through leadership, enrichment, clubs, careers, worship, service and community. We want every pupil to discover interests, develop talents and prepare well for their next steps.

Visit Trinity Secondary

The best way to understand Trinity Secondary is to see the school in action.

A visit gives families the chance to meet staff, see pupils learning and experience the calm, purposeful and welcoming feel of the school day.

Secondary visits usually take place on Tuesday mornings. If you are unable to attend a published visit, please contact the school office and we will do our best to help.

How to apply for Year 7

Applications for Year 7 places are made through the local authority admissions process.

If you live in Lewisham, you should apply through Lewisham Council. If you live outside Lewisham, you should apply through your home local authority.

Parents and carers should name Trinity Church of England School on their secondary school application if they would like their child to be considered for a Year 7 place.

Applications are usually made online through the eAdmissions system. Families should always check the latest local authority admissions guidance for current dates, deadlines and application instructions.

Please check the local authority admissions page for the latest confirmed dates and guidance before applying.

Supplementary Information Form

Some families may also need to complete a Supplementary Information Form.

Lewisham Council lists Trinity Church of England School as requiring a Supplementary Information Form for faith applicants. This form is returned directly to the school and is separate from naming Trinity on the local authority application.

Families should check the current admissions policy and supplementary form guidance carefully before applying.

For Trinity Primary families

For pupils already at Trinity Primary, the move into Trinity Secondary is part of one continuous journey.

Current Year 6 pupils at Trinity Primary can automatically transfer into Trinity Secondary Year 7 without needing to apply through the normal admissions process, subject to the school’s admissions policy.

This helps strengthen the all through journey from Primary to Secondary and supports pupils as they move into the next stage of school life.

Families should read the admissions policy and contact the school office if they have any questions about the transfer process.

For pupils joining from other primary schools

Pupils joining Trinity from other primary schools are warmly welcomed into our school community.

We understand that moving to Secondary school can feel exciting and unfamiliar, especially for pupils who may be joining without many friends from their primary school.

Our transition programme helps pupils meet staff, begin building friendships, learn routines and feel part of Trinity before September.

What happens after offer day?

Once your child has been offered a Year 7 place at Trinity, we will share further information about transition, welcome events, forms, uniform, equipment and the start of term.

Families should complete any forms requested by the school and attend transition events wherever possible. These steps help us get to know pupils well before they begin Year 7.

How we support transition

Our transition work is one of the most important parts of joining Trinity. It helps pupils and families understand what comes next and gives children time to build confidence before September.

Transition at Trinity is led by Ms Amanda Harvey, Head of Primary and Head of Year 7. This gives pupils and families a strong bridge between the Primary and Secondary phases, with leadership that understands the primary experience and the support children need as they take their next step.

Transition support may include pupil visits, parent information events, buddy activities, additional support for pupils who may need reassurance, communication with primary schools and welcome information for families.

SEND and additional support

Where a pupil has additional needs, transition planning helps us understand what support may be needed before they start.

Families should share relevant information with the school as early as possible so that the right conversations can take place.

If your child may need additional reassurance, support with transition, or specific adjustments, please contact us so that we can discuss the best next steps.

In year admissions

Families looking for a place in Years 7 to 11 outside the normal Year 7 admissions round should apply through Lewisham Council’s in year admissions process.

If you are considering an in year place, you are welcome to contact the school office to ask about Trinity Secondary, arrange a visit where possible, and understand the next steps.

Is Trinity the right fit for your child?

Choosing a school is personal. We encourage families to think carefully about what matters most for their child.

Trinity may be the right fit if you are looking for a school where:

  • your child can be known as an individual
  • high expectations are balanced with warmth and care
  • relationships, belonging and community matter
  • pupils are supported through the move into Secondary school
  • learning builds carefully from Year 7 to Year 11
  • Christian values shape the life of the school in an inclusive way
  • pupils are encouraged to grow in confidence, character and ambition

We would be pleased to welcome you for a visit so that you can see Trinity for yourself.

Useful documents

Year 7 welcome information, transition forms and new starter documents will be shared with families once a place has been offered and allocated.

These documents are for families who have been offered a place. They are separate from the local authority application process.
