Welcome from the Executive Headteacher

Mr D Lucas, Executive Headteacher

Welcome to the Secondary Phase at Trinity Church of England School, Lewisham.

It is a pleasure to welcome you as you consider the next stage of your child’s education. Choosing a Secondary school is an important decision, and families rightly want to know that their child will be known, supported, challenged and able to flourish.

At Trinity, our vision is rooted in Jesus’ words, “life in all its fullness” (John 10:10). This shapes our commitment to helping every pupil grow academically, socially and personally. We want pupils to develop strong knowledge, confidence, character and ambition, so that they are well prepared for their next step.

Our Secondary Phase builds on the strong foundations of our all through school. Ofsted recognised that “children in the early years make an excellent start to their education” and that, as pupils move through the school, “learning is skilfully delivered to build on previous knowledge so that it is remembered”. This matters because Trinity is not simply a school with two phases. It is one journey, from Reception to Year 11, where learning, relationships and values grow over time.

Pupils joining Trinity Secondary are welcomed into a community where they can quickly feel that they belong. Family groups, strong pastoral care, clear expectations and a broad curriculum help pupils settle, build confidence and take increasing responsibility for their learning. Ofsted noted that the school “combines high expectations for its pupils with a deep sense of community and belonging”, and this is something we are proud to live out each day.

As a Church of England school, we are proud to be inclusive and welcoming to pupils of all faiths and none. We want every pupil to feel valued, to discover their strengths, to serve others and to develop the resilience and ambition needed for the future.

We look forward to welcoming your child into the Trinity family and working with you throughout the next stage of their journey.

Welcome to Trinity Secondary

Choosing a secondary school is a significant moment for every family. Parents want to know that their child will be safe, known, challenged and supported. Pupils want to know that they will belong, make friends, discover opportunities and be ready for the future.

At Trinity Secondary, we bring those things together. We are ambitious for every pupil, while making sure that care, relationships and belonging remain at the heart of school life.

Ambition with belonging: Trinity Secondary combines high expectations, strong pastoral care and a clear focus on helping pupils become confident, capable and ready for their next step.

Why families choose Trinity Secondary

Every pupil known

Relationships matter at Trinity. Pupils are supported by staff who know them, care about their progress and want them to grow in confidence.

High expectations with care

We believe pupils do best when they are both supported and challenged. Our approach combines ambition, structure and encouragement.

Strong learning and wider opportunity

Secondary life gives pupils the chance to deepen their learning, discover interests, take part in clubs, develop leadership and experience opportunities beyond the classroom.

Ready for the next step

Through curriculum, careers, personal development and pastoral support, pupils are helped to prepare for future study, work and life beyond Trinity.

Joining us in Year 7

Year 7 is one of Trinity’s main entry points. We know that the move into secondary school is a big step, and our transition work helps pupils and families feel informed, welcomed and ready.

Pupils joining from Trinity Primary and pupils joining from other primary schools are supported carefully so that they can begin Year 7 with confidence and a sense of belonging.

Careers and future pathways

Secondary school should help pupils look ahead. At Trinity, pupils are supported to understand their strengths, explore future possibilities and prepare for their next steps.

Through curriculum, careers education, wider opportunities and personal development, we help pupils build the knowledge, confidence and character they need for life beyond school.

Faith, values and belonging

As a Church of England school, Trinity is rooted in a welcoming and inclusive Christian ethos. Our vision is to help pupils live life in all its fullness.

In Secondary, this means creating a community where pupils are known, challenged and encouraged to grow in character, confidence and responsibility. Pupils are supported to understand their gifts, develop their talents and make a positive contribution to the world around them.
