Home & Remote Learning
At Trinity, we regularly set home learning. This comprises learning tasks which pupils will be expected to complete out of lessons, either at home, in the school Library or at homework club.
The importance of partnership
For home learning to make a positive difference to children's progress there needs to be an open and supportive partnership between pupils, teachers and parents. When this partnership works well Trinity pupils will develop the attitudes and skills they need to become ambitious and effective lifelong learners.
The intent of home learning
At Trinity, we believe that home learning is an important aspect of our curriculum offer. Teachers set home learning tasks which extend and enhance the learning which has taken place in class as well as consolidating core knowledge that has been covered during the school day.
We recognise that home learning needs to be accessible to pupils and that they need to find it worthwhile and beneficial to pupils' learning. Home learning activities are shared on either Class Dojo (primary phase) or Microsoft Teams (secondary phase) with pupils being encouraged to check daily.
Home learning aims
- To encourage the development of metacognition skills so that pupils have the confidence and self-discipline to study productively on their own
- To consolidate and extend the learning which has taken place in lessons
- To promote a culture of learning taking place beyond school
- To add an additional element of interest and enjoyment to the curriculum
- To provide parents and carers with opportunities to actively participate in their children's education

Primary
At Primary home learning starts with reading.
Each pupil has a 1-2-1 reading session in school weekly, which needs to be followed up daily with families at home. We encourage parents to respond in reading booklets with updates on home reading.

Weekly maths homework is assigned using our online support platform - Mathletics. If pupils are unable to access homework online, school provides a Homework Club every Monday and Tuesday afternoon.

Pupils are assigned home learning, termly projects. These cover topics in RE, Wider Curriculum, etc. They give children a chance to be creative and practice oracy skills when presenting their projects at the end of term.
Secondary

Remote Education Provision
In the event that pupils are unable to attend school physically, Trinity Church of England School will continue to provide a full and ambitious education remotely.
Our approach
-
Teaching and learning will continue via Microsoft Teams for secondary pupils and Class Dojo for primary pupils.
-
Lessons will follow the same curriculum as that taught in school, with a blend of live, recorded and independent learning activities.
-
Teachers will provide clear explanations, model learning, and check pupils’ understanding through assignments and quizzes.
Support and access
-
Pupils who do not have suitable digital access can request a loan device from the school or receive printed learning packs where required.
-
We provide support for families to access online platforms and offer technical guidance through our IT team.
Expectations
-
Pupils are expected to attend online sessions, complete set work, and engage with feedback from teachers.
-
Parents and carers are encouraged to support pupils by establishing routines and communicating any access issues to the school.
Safeguarding and wellbeing
-
All remote education follows our safeguarding and online safety policies.
-
Staff maintain regular contact with pupils to support wellbeing, engagement, and pastoral needs.
Remote education is reviewed regularly by the school’s leadership team to ensure high quality and equitable access for all pupils.
