Primary Phase
ART
Our art curriculum offers children a diverse spectrum of skills, vocabulary, and high-quality expected outcomes. These competencies demonstrate a clear progression across the year groups, facilitated by the diverse range of mediums we provide for their exploration and expression.
Learning
Art is a vital part of our curriculum that allows children to explore ideas, experiment with materials, and express themselves creatively. Through studying a diverse range of artists, styles, and techniques, pupils learn to think critically and develop the skills needed to communicate through visual language.
Loving
Everyone at Trinity values the joy that art brings. Children take pride in their creations and families celebrate their achievements through exhibitions, gallery events, and our shared learning approach. Art at Trinity nurtures confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong appreciation for creativity.
Living
Through art, children learn to see the world from different perspectives and develop empathy, cultural awareness, and respect for others. Our art curriculum encourages pupils to connect their learning to the wider world, using creativity as a way to reflect, respond, and make a positive impact.
PROGRESSION AND SEQUENCING
Art is taught through a thematic approach across the whole school, allowing children to make meaningful connections between art and other areas of learning. Each year, we build upon five key artistic skills — drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and printing — ensuring progression and challenge as pupils move through the year groups.

Whole School Exhibition |
As children grow in confidence, they are introduced to a wide range of artists, designers, and craftspeople from diverse cultures and time periods, inspiring them to appreciate the many forms and purposes of art. They also develop a rich artistic vocabulary, enabling them to discuss, evaluate, and reflect on both their own work and that of others.

Through regular opportunities to experiment with different materials and techniques, pupils learn to express their ideas creatively and independently. Our art curriculum aims to nurture curiosity, imagination, and a lifelong enjoyment of the creative process.
Knowledge Organisers
Art is delivered through the use of knowledge organisers that outline the intent for that unit.
