Work Experience
All our Year 10 students go out on a 2-week work experience placement. This is a fantastic opportunity to spend a period of time outside the classroom, learning about the world of work. Work experience can help students to decide on Post-16 career and study options as well as the chance to develop and evidence vital skills such as self-confidence, communication and independence.
Pupils are encouraged to find their own work experience placement. This allows them to have the real life experience of contacting employers and presenting themselves professionally in order to secure a job.
Why Work Experience?
A two-week taster of life in the work place will help students learn:
- New skills, ideas and experiences
- Customer service
- How to work as part of a team
- Punctuality
- Dress Code
- Communication
- Time Management
During the placement, students will be able to find out what skills employers look for when they are hiring someone to fill a vacancy. Work experience will also help students to work better with other people when they enter further or higher education as well as in their future careers.
